Kaguya (Princess Moon in the Philippine-English Dub of TV5) is the secondary antagonist of Yaiba.
Appearance[]
Kaguya in her elderly and frail state due to lack of essence
As the Empress of the Moon, Kaguya has very long black hair with purple highlights and has neat fringes in each sides, fair skin and teal eyes. She also has a red mark on her forehead and a matching eye shadow in each sides. Originally, she had white rabbit ears which was cut off by the original Ryuujin during their ensuing battle in the past thousand years and her cut rabbit ears are concealed with a white rabbit headband until her original white rabbit ears are restored when she absorbs Sayaka's youthful essence to restore her true form. According to Ryuujin, Kaguya's human form is the fusion between her true form and the body of the original Dragon Maiden which is why her true powers were sealed and restraint.
When she suffers great pain in her limited battles against Yaiba and Takeshi Onimaru or getting suffered too much pain due to her weak and frail state as an elderly woman while getting desperate to absorb Sayaka's youthful energy, her appearance is drastically changed. Her skin becomes pale, her very long hair becomes white, her face becomes skeletal and wrinkled and her entire body is wrinkled and frail as her main outfit is slightly loose because of her elderly state. This is due to lack of youthful energy.
Her main outfit is a black and purple leotard with white fur designs adorned with a ruby at the center and has a white collar adorned with a black bow tie to complete her leotard and has a white bunny tail at the back, she wears matching gloves with white fur designs adorned with gold and ruby bands in each elbows, dark brown pantyhose and black knee-high boots adorned with rounded shape ruby gems and gold outlines. She is also wore a black and green cape adorned with black and red large pauldrons with gold linings and the interior is red and has white fur designs at the edge of her cape.
As she transforms into her true form after absorbing Sayaka's youthful energy. She turns into a very large black amorphous blob in a dark pink hue with large red eyes and several beastly-like teeth. It was adorned in ten large black rabbit-like hydras similar to a dragon in a dark pink stripes until she fuses with most of her people and the planet Earth. While in this form, she speaks in a distorted tone. In her battle against the original Ryuujin, the ten large black rabbit-like hydras are revealed on her hair during her failing attempt of getting separated between the body of the original Dragon maiden and her true form before he cut off her white rabbit ears and her discovery after absorbing some of Sayaka's youthful essence who is actually the descendant of a Dragon maiden which causes her power to show the rabbit-like hydras are forming within her.
Summary[]
Kaguya is the Empress of the Moon and the ruler of a race of bunny people living on the moon. 1000 years ago, she invaded Earth for the first time in Ancient Fire Country during the feudal era in Japan. She then threatens the emperor of the country to get the Dragon Orb in three days time until one of the priests has the Orb and gave it to her. The power of the Orb had resonate her which she threw it away, thinking it was garbage and not giving up of invading Earth and returning to the Moon and the priest retrieves the Orb and he activates it, turning him into the original Ryuujin and both her and Ryuujin had a massive clash. As both fight equally, Kaguya tried to transform into her true form but failed when Ryuujin tells her that she had fused with the body of the Dragon Maiden which is why her powers became restrained and in order to unleash her powers is to find the descendant of the Dragon maiden in a thousand years while taunting her if she could survive that long. Ryuujin defeats her by cutting off her rabbit ears to make her powers permanently sealed as she screams in pain. Following her defeat, she was put into a slumber and it's going to awake her in a thousand years.
In the present day, she awakens after sensing the energy of Yaiba's Dragon Orb who is now became as the second Ryuujin after the original, and launches a second invasion of earth using bamboo-styled spaceships. She had conquered the world a thousand years before, but the priest of the Dragon God defeated her by cutting off her ears and sealing them within the spirit of the Dragon Maiden, and each Dragon Maiden down the line. She also had a war between her and Takeshi Onimaru in taking over Earth only for Yaiba to intervene in their fight but she successfully petrifies Onimaru with the Carbon-Freeze Cannon after she manipulates her hair to ensnare him despite losing a lot of youthful essence because of her elderly state since he knew her weakness and was helped by her loyal General and Shogun, Tsukikage. Despite their invasion, they only targeted young women on Earth so that Kaguya would absorb their youthful essence to maintain her youth in 24 hours especially giving her four Generals under Tsukikage an ultimatum if they failed their mission, she will eliminate them on the spot. However when Hangetsu successfully captures Sayaka Mine for the first time after he had fused with Jubei Yagyu, she mostly confronts her to get her youthful essence. Once she tried to absorb Sayaka's youthful essence, her true powers became invigorated and forming the black rabbit-like hydras on her to attack Yaiba who finally rescues Sayaka. It was then that Kaguya learns that Sayaka was the descendant of the Dragon maiden and this is how to regain her powers and her true form. Trying to remember the time when the original Ryuujin had defeated her and showing her frustration because of her original rabbit ears are cut off, she orders Tsukikage to release his estranged younger brother Gekko at the Moon where he was imprisoned for rebellion which makes him reluctant to release him. Once Gekko is freed from imprisonment in Tsukikage's behest, Kaguya orders him to capture Sayaka and he will be eliminated if he fails which he agrees to her terms. Prior on giving him a mission, Kaguya seems to be amused to see both Tsukikage and Gekko are brothers and Gekko is the black sheep among them. Gekko succeeds in capturing Sayaka after defeating Yaiba with the use of the Devil King Sword.
During the second assault of her mothership, she watches Yaiba and his group as well as both Tsukikage and Gekko are clashing each other to rescue Sayaka from her grasp until she greatly suffers herself for losing more youthful essence and became desperate to absorb Sayaka's youthful essence. Once Sayaka fell off into the ground after Tsukikage accidentally drops her due to Yaiba's meddling, she successfully absorbs Sayaka's youthful essence and her rabbit headband falls off due to her original rabbit ears are restored and regaining her powers as she massively transformed into her true form by forming the black rabbit-like hydras all over her body when Yaiba screams in anguish after seeing Sayaka becoming old and wrinkled. As the smoke clears to reveal herself as a very large amorphous blob adorned in ten black rabbit-like hydras. This causes a struggle to both Yaiba and Onimaru in the fight against her and the Raijin Sword was swallowed by her. Once Onimaru lend his Devil Wind Sword to Yaiba as he wields Gekko's Devil King Sword and this is where Yaiba unleashes the Ryuujin's powers and both made an equal fight.
She eventually merges with her people and planet Earth but is sealed by Yaiba using Ryuujin's power. In the anime, she was defeated by Yaiba using Ryuujin's power causing her to fall into her slumber for another thousand years according to Ryuujin, she used more of her energy to protect it's inhabitants on Earth due to her deep love of this planet and most of her people including both Tsukikage and Gekko are finally diffused which leads them to fly back into the Moon and the youthful essence that she had stole from many young girls including Sayaka had restored their youth from raining. In her last words, she allows Tsukikage and her people to return to the moon and she will stay for a while on Earth only for Gekko to tell him that she would return home which he calmly nods in agreement.
She reappears during the penultimate arc, where she fuses with Sayaka and reluctantly agrees to help Yaiba defeat Onimaru and the Yamata no Orochi. After Onimaru and the dragon are defeated, Kaguya and her people return to the Moon, hoping to restore it back into a beautiful planet.

- In the game Atlantica Online during the Cannoneer (Goemon)'s recruitment quest. The NPC to make this quest active and repeatable is also named Kaguya but mixed with the word hime to become her name is Kaguyahime and during the quest, she references her role as a bamboo princess much like Kaguya with her rabbit people in the Moon.
